Scope and ContentSuad Hanna was born in Ramallah in 1936. Her parents married in Ramallah in 1934. In 1955 Suad married John George Peter in Ramallah. Their family now resides in the US. After the creation of Israel in 1948 and the end of the British Mandate, Jordan took control of the territory on the western side of the Jordan River including Ramallah, and her birth certificate was reissued by the Hashemite Kingdom. Jordan transferred its full citizenship rights to the residents of the West Bank. The naturalized Palestinians enjoyed equal opportunities in all sectors of the state without discrimination, and they were given half of the seats of the Jordanian parliament.
